Canyons and Cows

We left Amarillo this morning and headed south for Palo Duro Canyon. It appear the small cousin of the Grand Canyon. The owner in the Thai last night told us it was a disappointment. But no, it was amazing. Fabulous rock formations and something for everyone. There ere hiking trails, biking trails, glamping and everything in-between. There was a road right through it which formed a loop past all the best bits. They also had a herd of Longhorns! However, they appeared to have the run of a large area so we only caught sight o them through the brush. But, on leaving we found another one (pictured). I think they are extraordinary beasts and it is a shame they are no long well known in Texas. They have moved over to the Hereford as apparently it has more meat. They only keep the longhorns for show or for pets. This one had a donkey for company.

Now staying in Canyon for one night. A long trek tomorrow to Roswell.
