Boat Trip Boca Grande to Cabbage Quay
20/03/2025
Today we went for a boat ride to Boca Grande which is an island over a huge causeway. It is yet another lovely day so idea for a boat ride. The captain said they had ordered dolphins and they were true to their word.A number followed the boat and I actually managed to get images of them, not brilliant but not bad. I like this little Olympus camera. We went to another island about half an hour away called Cabbage Quay where we stopped for lunch. Very picturesque and included gopher tortoises which looked very old. There were trails around the island, both of which we did. There is a lot of devastation from the last hurricane, it will take a goodly while to get back to its pristine state. We returned to Alison’s via her favourite ice cream shop in Englewood. Geoff has gone off to the club house swimming with Alison and I chose to play with my photos and dipping my feet in her pool. It is extremely hot today. The picture is the view from where I am sitting playing on my computer. The lanai (mesh cover) keeps out the mosquitoes and the alligators.
Tonight we are going out to dinner at a little Italian restaurant in Venice. It looks as though we, and another couple, are dining their guest speaker at the club tomorrow night: John Oldring who is the eldest Canadian to climb Everest. Apparently his images are very good. He sounds interesting. He is a former Alberta politician - I wonder if he supports Trump?
Politics never came up, what a surprise. But what a nice chap. He was extremely interesting and we had lovely evening with him and a couple of Alison’s friends from the Club. I am looking forward to his talk at the club tomorrow. If he is good I wonder if he does Zoom presentations as he may be one for Exeter Camera Club.
