Florida 2025
DAY 24 - 4 April
Sanibel Marina
Edison Ford
05/04/2025
We have found somewhere for breakfast we really like, 2nd day today. If we were staying longer we would become regulars, so lovely not to just be offered fried stuff. Full marks for the Over Easy Cafe.
As we left the island this morning a pelican flew alongside us over the causeway. Typical of me I did not have my camera out - it would have made a good picture.
We did go to the Ford Edison Summer Lodging this morning. It is in Fort Myers. We have visited before but it was just as lovely to go back. There dud not appear to be too much damage but it is surprising what money can do to put things right. They have a pole that shows how high the storm swell was - 12 ft!. It is very hot today, too hot for me - in the 90s. We were very good with keeping ourselves hydrated. We returned to our hotel but it was too hot to sit out and a siesta seemed like a good idea.
Getting ready to move on tomorrow, back down the coast to between Naples and Marco Island.
We may just take a final visit to our Osprey family in the morning before we leave. I would love to see the chicks leave the nest, they are almost as big as their parents.
We took a last walk up and down the beach this evening. It is still warm but very windy and the sea is rougher than it has been.
Well, I love Sanibel but I cannot see us coming back again. The bugs have been horrendous. They say it is because of the sea water going all over the island during the hurricane and they need the sea water to breed! Shame. The picture is of Sanibel Marina.
